all about the ultrasound

Hi everyone!
today i had my 4D high resolution ultrasound at the hospital. we have definetly confirmed that we're having a boy!! His first name will be Phoenix. we havent decided on spelling or a middle name yet but eric and i are so excited! hailyn is so far unimpressed. shes been present at all my ultrasounds and finds that tv channel rather boring =P. during the ultrasound they checked the structures of the heart, brain and kidneys, and got lots of measurments. he so far weighs 9oz and is measuring perfect for his gestational age. after the ultrasound a genetic diagnostician came in to look at hailyn and check out the scans. hailyn has a few very minor facial features that could be considered a sign of genetic syndrome, or they could be nothing. one of those features are that her ears are considered low set. they have already found the Phoenix has low set ears also, but cant say for sure if thats a symptom or something they got from eric and i. The doc wants a scan of hailyns heart to check for structural abnormalities and then would like us to come back with those results in 6 weeks. she'll then do another 4D of Phoenix and check his heart again, and also start measuring facial features, like the space between the eyes, the space between the eyes and ears, the forehead, etc.
So far he looks good, he is growing proportionatley as opposed to hailyn, and so far as no structural defects. so far so good!! just keep those prayers coming!
As for miss hailyn, she's a very busy girl. she has already had a very exhausting 48hr in home EEG, but we wont get the results til mid to late summer. shes scheduled to see GI for a swallow study & then extraction of her mic key button (WHOO HOO!!!) and also has apts to see a nuero muscular specialist, an orthotist, and a genetic specialist, so she's certainly keeping me busy. she is still crawling quite a bit and pulling to stand, and she has a new trick, crawling up steps. i was very impressed with that as she never practised, she just figured it out one day! she is full of hugs and smiles all day long & a general joy to be around. (unless she misses her nap! then be warned!)
i've heard from eric quite a few times now, and while hes very busy working 18 hours a day, sometimes more, he seems to be in very good spirits. he sends his thanks for the birthday wishes & cant wait to come home and see his babies! i'm really proud of how well hes handling all his hard work, on top of prepping to the end of his contract next summer. hes already got a job plan and a back up re-enlistment package should he not be able to find a job. he's being really responsible & sensible about it! im really proud! so thats whats new with the yahr clan these days!! love to you all =] enjoy the pics below! the top one is 2/3D and the bottom is the fancy 4D!
